Our family day at Cornwallis Beach

 

We had fantastic weather for our beach picnic.

 

Lots of parents and grandparents could come.

 

We were monkeys in the trees!

 

Mrs Hewetson had a lovely time, too.

 

We built some amazing sand castles.

 

A mermaid showed up!!

 

We went swimming for a very long time!

Congratulations to Room 6 of 2012!!

To all my students last year.....

A huge congratulations on coming 3rd place in the Activboard competition!!!! The video we made to show how we used our Activboard in an innovative way must have impressed the judges, yay!! Of course it did, as you all did such a superb job!

Our prize is an Actiview Document Camera, which is kind of like an OHP (ask your parents what this is!) which can scan things onto the activboard and I'm sure it can do all kinds of other exciting things which we can experiment with when it arrives.

Welcome to the Ruma Ono of 2013!!

Well it is a brand new year and a brand new class.... well, kind of. We still have our great friends Luka, Ava, Caleb and Samantha in our class. And we have added Vlad, Hamza, Taha, Kingston, Lucia, Leilani, Jerry, and Noah. Haere mai! Ruma Ono is lucky to have Miss Taylor join us while she completes her Teachers Training College.

 

Here we are! What a handsome bunch! Already we are having lots of fun with our learning.

We are learning about statistics and we made a pictograph of the colour of our lunchboxes. You can see the graph on the back of our classroom.

Last week of fun!

 

Water Day was wet!! Miss Eyre got saturated!

 

There was a water slide.

 

There were lots of water guns and water balloons.

 

Yesterday we shared a Teddy Bears' Picnic with Ruma Whitu.

 

We walked into the woods at the back of school with our teddies.

 

Some of them are very big!

 

We read "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", and a story about Winnie the Pooh, after we had some snacks of popcorn, tiny teddies and fairy bread.

 

Then we had a challenge to make a hut for our teddy. It really made us think!

 

Aunty Janice came too!

Athletics Day

 

We had so much fun at the Junior Athletics Afternoon.

 

We practised balancing with the eggs and spoons.

 

Look at how fast we can sprint!

 

We're like the wind!

We slept well that night.
