Building Bear Huts

This afternoon we went into the bush down at the back of our school and made bear huts with our buddy class. What a creative adventure! Miss Eyre said she could spend the night in some of our huts! We worked really well with our buddy class and came up with ideas on how best to make our hut.

Tell your family what worked best to make a hut.

We're going on a bear hunt..... We're not scared!

This week is a week of Teddy Bears! We are having lots of fun playing with our soft toys that we have bought to school. They are learning with us. We have an exciting bear cave in our room, and are doing lots of bear related activities.

Check out the link below with a cool version of "We're going on a bear hunt".

Art Symmetry

We have been learning about symmetry.

What is symmetry?

Here are some of our awesome symmetrical faces. We used our sketching techniques.

Our buddy class challenge

Miss Eyre and Ms Leader gave us a Friday afternoon challenge.

Each group was given a set amount of newspaper and one metre of sellotape and we had to build the tallest tower we could. As an added challenge, the tower had to be able to hold a pencil.

How did you help your group?

What made your tower strong?

What didn't work?

What would you do differently next time?

These girls did well with the second tallest tower.

Here is the winning tower which could stand all by itself, after a lot of trial and error! It was just over 1 metre tall.

Tell your family what you liked about the tower challenge.

Our surprise visitor

Today Ronald McDonald came to our school for a surprise visit. Talk about exciting! He was hilarious while he taught us about sneaky driveways and how to stay safe when crossing the road.

He also could not find his sock. Tell your family about where it was.

What else did Ronald teach us today?

Train Safety

We had our train trip last Thursday. We were so safe walking down the street, looking for sneaky driveways and telling our parents how we can cross the road safely by looking both ways.

Constable Dean was there to help us too.

When the train came we made sure we were behind the yellow dots.

Our favourite part was going through the tunnel.... woooohoooo.

We then had 2 parks to play at and lunch to eat when we got off the train at the Swanson Station.

Our parents were so helpful!

Then back on the train for the ride home.

What a safety adventure!!

Tell your family about your favourite part of the trip.
