P is for .....pikelets.

Our letter of the week is p. Tell your family how we write the letter p. "Hanging stick, tunnel, close it". Now show them how you write it.

In honour of the letter p, we made pikelets today. What is a recipe? What are ingredients? How did we make them? Look at the photos below to help you remember.

That's some fast mixing the mixture!

We all had a turn at stirring the pikelet mix.

We were very careful around the electric frying pan as it was very hot!

We all had one pikelet each. At the end Miss Eyre gave us a math problem. She made 9 more pikelets, but there were 18 people in class. Major problem - not enough pikelets!

How did we solve the problem using fractions to make sure that everyone had an equal share?

"Smile!" said Miss Eyre

Our shared book this week is called '"Smile!" said Dad'. We decided to make our own book, and to change the ending as none of us had been born when the book was written and it was a bit outdated! What is camera film anyway??

Here is our new version.

We are 50 days smarter!

We have been at school for 50 days. That means we are half way to our 100 day party!!
Can you see how we dressed in halves? Show your family what was a bit special about each person.

We had fun doing some activities with the number 50.

Look at our crazy half styled hair!!

Miss Eyre was half dressed, half asleep and half awake!

The hot chips for lunch were a highlight too.

Our best bears

As we are reading the shared book 'My Best Bear' we have had a fun bear filled week. Look at the delicious treats we made!

Faith brought in the biggest bear ever! He sat next to her while she was the special person for the day.

Miss Eyre then gave us the challenge to sort all of our bears in order of size, from smallest to tallest. We had to talk a lot to each other. It was a good challenge!

We finally got there.

Where was your bear in the order of bears?

Then we placed ourselves on the line too, to see if we were taller or shorter than Faiths' bear.
Here are the girls....

And here are the boys? Who was taller than the bear? Who was shorter?

We sure do love our teddy bears!
