Olympic Park and the Gym.

Wow, we had fun today at the gym. Room 6 will sleep well tonight! So will Miss Eyre, as I had a go too.

Here are some of our comments about how much we enjoyed ourselves today.

I really liked the gymnastics. My favourite part was on the rope and we swinged! Joshua

I liked doing the flips and the trampoline. Brooke.

I liked the rings. I flipped on the rings. Shaolyn

I liked when you hold on to the bar and you fall off into the soft things (foam). Kaitlyn

I liked the trip. I liked the part of the gymnastics when you got to jump into the foam. Scarlett

I was really good at the rings. I flipped forwards and backwards without anybody even helping me onto the bars or flipping. Blair

I was good at everything like doing the flips on the rings. Nesta

I did it by myself. I tried. I was good at everything! Alex

I loved the trip because I loved doing everything. With Ngaire I did it all by myself 16 times. And I swung perfectly, but I was scared for the first time. I liked going on the playground and I liked doing everything because I liked doing gymnastics and its my favourite. And synchronised swimming. Alice

I liked the swinging on the bars and playing on the park. James

I liked the rings and the park. Monique

I liked doing the rope and bungy jumping and the trampoline. Cruz

I liked that trampoline where you go on the soft stuff (foam). Oliver

I liked the climbing whip (rope) and the slide and every whole of the park. Vishal

A busy Friday

Here were are on stage in front of the whole school on Friday, dancing the folk dance In and Out the Window. Let me explain how it goes.

We dressed up in our best dancing clothes.

In the afternoon we made Olympic Ring biscuits.

They tasted delicious! Hopefully the NZ Olympic team will feel our support and our crossed fingers for them and will keep on winning gold at the Olympics!!

Ancient Greek Myths

Let me tell you what an ancient Greek myth is.

http://www.starfall.com/n/level-c/greek-myths/load.htm?f

Here is a link to some Greek myths that we read today. It would fun to read some at home. Or get your child to retell you the story in their own words.

We learned that the Olympics first started in Greece, and and we were quite interested in learning that the men used to run naked!!

The Olympics

Amelia: "The Olympians are fast runners."
Alice: "They do gymnastics and they have special kind of chalk to put on their hands and feet so they won't fall off."
Joshua: "The Olympics are in England. London is the city."
Alex: "We got 2 bronze medals."
Kaitlyn: "Japan has 11 bronze medals and they got one today in the swimming!"

As a class we are enjoying watching the running, gymnastics, rowing, fencing, boxing, weightlifting, basketball, judo, soccer, hockey, sailing to name a few.

Margaret Mahy

Today we read this book by Margaret Mahy to remember her and her awesome books. What can you find down the back of the chair at your place? Leave a comment below to tell us what you discover. Will you find money? Or crumbs? Or elephants drinking tea??

We have also read "A Summery Saturday Morning" and "Me and my Dog". We think that Margaret Mahy must really like dogs!

Here is our weekly update from Kaitlyn and Amelia.

"Margaret Mahy wrote a lot of books. They are really cool. This week we have been learning to write stories, which are also called narratives. We're learning about where it is (our setting) and the characters, the people in the story. Then there is a problem and they solve it! My character is called Space Alien (Amelia), and mine are Kitty and Puppy (Kaitlyn). We have been at school for 105 days, which is one group of 100 and 5 ones. We are also learning to add and subtract by tens."

What a great update girls! Continue to learn the sign language to 'Stand Tall', Ruma Ono and enjoy watching the Olympics this weekend.

Go New Zealand!!
