Today we ate worms.....

Not real worms!! We are looking at the letter j this week, and we decided to make some jelly worms. We had to cross our fingers as Miss Eyre wasn't sure if they were going to work, but phew, they did.

What happens when you put Jello inside of straws? JELLO WORMS! You rubber band the straws together. Pour the jello mixture in the straws. The liquid will fill the straws and around the outer straw. Place it in the fridge until it gelled. Pull out the clump of banded straws. Run warm water over the straws for about 5 seconds, and the fabulously disgusting life like worms slide out! //Gross! but my kids would love this...

Here's what they looked like on Pinterest.

Here's what they looked like in Room 6! Nailed it!

We also had some students bring in some home learning.

Vivian loves to watch Frozen and she made a book with pictures in it which she will write in.

Oscar loves Ultraman, a cool cartoon. It was all in Chinese, so we looked at the pictures and made predictions about what was happening in the story.

Thanks for sharing, Oscar and Vivian!

Ruma Ono love Mo Willems books. Here is one of our favourites, 'We are in a book', staring Piggie and Elephant. We also love his books about Pigeon. They are so funny!

A beautiful day at Cornwallis Beach

Here we are on the bus to our Junior and Middle School picnic.

First stop, morning tea!

Look at our healthy lunches and snacks.

We made sandcastles with Miss Park.

Kayden loved being in the water!

So did we!

Uh, oh, where is your body, Felix?

Ben did some writing in the sand.

Finally, the bus trip home. What a fantastic day. Miss Eyre would like to give a huge thanks to all the parents who came on the day and made it such a success.

We love swimming

Look at us, so eager to get into the water on a hot summers afternoon!

Wow, a flip in the water!

We made a huge whirlpool to warm up and the water was turning so fast.

Ruma Ono love swimming. Our swimming days are Thursdays and Fridays. Don't forget your togs!

Lunch box statistics

We used our lunch boxes to make a pictograph too. Tell your family what our graph was called? What was the colour of most of the lunch boxes?

Then we graphed it for our wall.

Statistics and Smarties

We are smarties in Ruma Ono and we are learning about statistics with Smarties!
Here are some of our pictographs that we made today.

We organised the colour piles.

Then we put the smarties on our page before we coloured them in.

We got to eat the special treat afterwards!

Welcome to the class of 2014!

Welcome to (and back to) school Ruma Ono. I am so delighted to have you in my class this year!!

Here we are under our tree in summer. I wonder what will happen to the tree as the year goes on. Tell your family what you predict will happen to the leaves in autumn.
