Happy April Fool's Day

Miss Eyre played an April Fool's Day prank on us by turning all the computer screens upside down.

She thought it was very funny! We had to sign our names on the whiteboard upside down.

We also did our April Fool's Day writing upside down in our books. So much fun!

Yesterday we were honoured to meet a real life author who works at our school. We read "Counting Sheep" by Eleanor Hughes, and if you sneak into the office you might be able to see her there yourself.

Love to learn to lead

Mr Maindonald came into class today to give us our special 'Love to learn to lead' bands. What do they mean? Tell your family why they are special.

Every student and teacher in the school is going to be given one.

Mr Maindonald shook all of our hands and helped us to put them on. He said we are all part of the family!

We love them and will wear them with pride.

Kei Te Pehea Koe

Here is our video which we will be sharing at this weeks Whanau Time (Assembly) at 9:45 this Friday.

Hope to see you there as we will also share our VIP poem, and sing a song with our buddy class.

Lots of cool home learning

Look at our awesome alphabet books. We cut out letters and pictures to go with our letter of the week. See if you can see what letter it was in each picture.

Hayley's older sister was doing some basic facts maths with her mum, and Hayley decided she wanted to do some learning too. So her mum wrote some basic facts for her, and she filled them all out. What a cool thing to do on the weekend!

Our trip to the Butterfly Garden

We went on a double decker bus. We felt as tall as giraffes!

First stop, the Butterfly Garden House. What did you see there? What parts of the life cycle of the butterfly are in the pictures?

Can you see the cocoon?

Why is this chrysalis black?

How many butterflies were on this tree?

Look carefully, or you will miss seeing the eggs....

Miss Eyre had a wee visitor on her leg.

Snack time!

What did we do in the NZ native tree area?

Not another snack time?!

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers!!

We are scientists

As we are looking at Transformation for our inquiry, we became scientists today to see how ice transforms. We wanted to see if ice melted faster in sunlight or in the shade. We even wondered if ice melted at all in the shade. We talked about the equipment we needed, made our hypothesis, and then took our science experiment outside to see what happened.

It was a great sunny day for it!

Our results were very interesting. Tell your family about what happened.

Where did the ice go? How did it transform?
