MOTAT trip

We had a fantastic day at MOTAT yesterday. We started the day with Anna taking us for a lesson in Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and how this applied in the old days. Tell your family what you learned.

Getting water wasn't as easy as it is today.

What was this that Anna is holding?

This table was full of 'rubbish' and we had to think creatively about how we could reuse some of the items. What did you come up with?

Room 12 looked pretty dapper in their new gears!

The old telephones were fun, once we figured out how to use them! Lucky we had adults old enough to remember, haha!

School didn't seem as fun. There were some strict rules for students and teachers. Tell your family about them.

We pumped some water in the village.

Here are some interesting mannequins.

This is an old toilet called a chamber pot. I like the toilets we use a lot better!

The ride on the tram was fun and we met the Motorman - tram driver.

Shakira became our Motorwoman!

Here is some cool art that has been made from old materials that could be reused.

The Welcome to the Machine exhibition was a crowd favourite. We got to jump and play and touch everything!

We learned about pulleys, wedges, cranks and how machines work together.

These robots were also made from recycled materials.

We found some jail birds, too!

It was an awesome trip. Thanks so much to all the awesome adult help we had!

Pyjama Day - Yay!

Pyjama Day was so fun! We were so cozy and we loved working in our onesies and PJ's with our soft toys.

Milo and toast was a delicious second breakfast.

We had a zebra and a dragon as our teachers for the day.

Here we are!

More reading plays

The Cats in the Hats performed their cool play for the class. The wee garden out the front of our classroom is making a wonderful stage!

The Horton's also performed using an outdoor stage and we were most impressed again.

Look at all the paparazzi wanting to capture the play!

The props were well thought out, too.

We are a creative dramatic bunch!

Pink Shirt Day

We had Pink Shirt Day a few Fridays ago to support making friends and being connected to people in a good way. Shakira was our pink lady and she won a Pinky Prize!

Amelia came in to read her story that she had written about being bullied. It was an amazing story with great characters who showed empathy. It was impressive she had written it with her mum.

We also ate pink lady apples. What a great day to support.

Here's Amelia's story.

Ice Skating at School

We had a fundraiser at school a few weeks ago. An ice skating rink was set up at school in the hall. It was huge, just like a real one. Tell your family how it was different though.

We had so much fun skating!

It was slippery just like ice.

We learned persistence and how to help our classmates if they fell over.

When we came back to class we wrote some very persuasive letters to Mr Maindonald and the Board of Trustees about why we should have a permanent ice skating rink at school. We included where it should go on the school grounds and how we would raise the money. We were very persuasive! I think it might be impossible for the Board to deny our request.
